Tammy Baker, 55, of Oskaloosa, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021, at Mercy One Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born on December 20, 1965, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of Ronald and Judith (Fleener) Baker. At a young age Tammy moved to California with her mother and siblings and later in life moved back to Oskaloosa, Iowa, and made it her permanent home. She attended Oskaloosa High School and later received her GED from Indian Hills Community College. She worked at many restaurants as a manager throughout her years and at a Jiffy gas station until she no longer could work. She enjoyed every bit of it, adding new family and friends to her life. Tammy raised her children in Oskaloosa and enjoyed the activities with family and friends like bowling, swimming, game nights and movie nights and anything with her grandchildren, whom she adored. She opened her home to all of her children's friends and treated them as her own. She was very loving and caring and would help anyone in need. where she raised her children. She enjoyed crocheting, bowling, swimming, family game and movie nights and reading. Her real joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Tammy is survived by her children, Krystal (Quayshawn) Means of Oskaloosa, Chance MaGee of Waterloo, Malikai Baker of Cedar Falls, Danielle Levy of McKinney and Quinn MaGee of Waterloo; her grandchildren, JaShaden Baker, NaSaiah Baker, Jayla MaGee, Armoni MaGee, Zorion Harris, ZaNoviah Harris and Raiden MaGee; her father, Ron Baker of Florida; her siblings, Greg DeReus of Oskaloosa, Deborah DeReus-Cameron of North Carolina and David. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Richard DeReus, Jason DeReus, Britney Cameron, Jack Cameron and Jerica DeReus. She is preceded in death by her mother, Judith Baker and two grandchildren, Fredrick Morris Jr. and Romeo MaGee. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 27, 2021, at 12 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. According to the rules put in place by the Iowa Department of Public Health, proper social distancing and reasonable personal protective equipment is advised for attending a religious public event. The funeral will be posted to the Bates Funeral Chapel’s YouTube page for those unable to attend. Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, February 27 starting at 10 a.m. until service time at 12:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter.
