Oskaloosa. Robert Bittner, 42, of Oskaloosa, died Thursday, May 5, 2022, at Ridgewood Specialty Care in Ottumwa. He was born September 9, 1979, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Ricky and Jerri Fisk Bittner. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1998. Following high school, he went to work at Clow Valve in Oskaloosa. After a few years at Clow he took a job at McDonald’s in Oskaloosa. He eventually returned to Clow and has worked there for the past 18 years. On June 6, 2020, he was united in marriage to Dana Baker in University Park. Robert had a servant heart. He was a passionate active member of Mahaska County C.E.R.T. where he served as a captain. Robert and his family attended the New Sharon Assembly of God Church. He was also an avid motorcycle rider and enjoyed being a member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association. Robert enjoyed scouring the countryside and Facebook Marketplace for bargains, his favorite items to collect were either bargains or free. He enjoyed collecting old cars and showing them in car shows. His foundation was rooted in two things Jesus Christ and the 2nd amendment, both clearly displayed through his numerous tattoos, that he was always happy to show off. He will be remembered for his caring heart, quick wit, and his ability to always clean his plate. His family includes his wife, Dana Bittner of Oskaloosa; five children, Morgan Bittner of Oskaloosa, Kimberly Bittner of Beacon, Christiana Schieber of North Dakota, Cheyanne Baker of Oskaloosa, and Gasper Baker of Oskaloosa; his mother and her husband, Jerri and Norman Belew of Des Moines, a brother and his wife, Daniel and Sonya Bittner of Ankeny, his grandparents, Nancy Criss of Oskaloosa and Lawrence and Phyllis Bittner of Battlefield, Missouri; his mother in law, Catherine Baker of North Dakota; father in law, Richard Finkenstein of Texas; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Ricky Bittner; grandparents, Daniel Fisk, Wanda Van Der Veer, and Irene Fisk; his uncle Brian Bittner; and his grandfather in law, Eugene Arnold. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the New Sharon Assembly of God Church in New Sharon with Reverend Michael Linder officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Monday, May 9, 2022, after 1 p.m. at the New Sharon Assembly of God Church and the family will be at the Church from 5-7 Monday evening to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the family.
