Rex Anderson

January 27, 1940 - January 29, 2022

Rex Anderson, 82, of Rose Hill, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022, at the MHP Hospital in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He was born on January 27, 1940, in Fremont, Iowa, the son of Carl and Mary (Nash) Anderson, the youngest of 4 children. He grew up and attended the Fremont High School graduating with the Class of 1958. In 1961 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Halliburton. To this union six children were born, Gary, Allen, Scott, Billy, Michelle and Mike. Rex and Phyllis divorced years later. In 1986 he was united in marriage to Delores “Dee” Frazier-Winkleman at the Methodist Church in Oskaloosa. Rex worked running service stations in Oskaloosa and Fremont and later farmed in the Rose Hill area. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fan. As a young man he participated motorcycle racing and still continued to follow the sport he loved. He is survived by his wife, Delores “Dee” Anderson of Rose Hill; his children, Gary Anderson of Keswick, Scott (Shelly) Anderson of Rose Hill, Mike Anderson of Oskaloosa, Michelle Probasco of Olathe, Kansas; 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; his stepchildren, Tami (Mike) Bair of Lacey, Pam (Mark) Collister of Lacey and Carmen (David) Farrar of Oskaloosa; 7 step grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren. Rex was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Billy Anderson and Allen Anderson and his siblings, William Anderson, Joy Anderson and Clair Anderson. As was Rex’s wish his body has been cremated. A private family service will be held at a later date. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Fremont Fire Station.
