Raymond Leroy Williams

February 18, 1935 - April 17, 2022

Raymond Leroy Williams 87 of Delta Iowa was surrounded by his family at the Keokuk County Hospital on Sunday April 17th 2022 when he was called home. Ray was born in Iowa City Iowa on Monday February 18th 1935 to Mildred Phipps. He was later adopted by Mildred's husband Fred "Tarzan" Williams. Ray grew up and attended school in Beacon Iowa and this is where he remained for majority of his life and raised his family. Ray was blessed with seven children, twelve grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and 30-plus great-grandchildren. Throughout the years Ray had variety of different jobs which included construction, Carnival worker and being a farmhand until he found his one true passion which was driving semi. Majority of his life was spent behind the wheel of a big rig. Even if it was just to take one of his grandchildren to look at all the pretty Christmas lights. In his free time he enjoyed watching westerns, hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Left to honor his memory are his children Cynthia Williams Eastman; of Greenwood Arkansas, Terri Ryan of Kahoka Missouri, Richard (Elizabeth Williams); of Conroe Texas, Sandra Reed of Sigourney Iowa, Wanda Bringman (Dwight West) of Sigourney Iowa, his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His brothers and sisters Barb Dekker, Bonnie (Clarence) Beck, Kay (Bob) Avila, Mike(Pat) Williams, Lyle (Melinda) Williams, Bill Williams, Chris (John Gillotte) Hillman and sister in law Judy Williams; as well as many nieces and nephews. Ray is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Mildred Williams, his son David Williams, his daughter Diane Williams, his brother Fred Williams, his sister Shirley J Emary Hunt, his grandson Corey Short and his Step Grandson Christopher Reynolds. Per Ray's wishes his body will be cremated and laid to rest at the Beacon Cemetery in Beacon Iowa. Ray's family invites you to come celebrate Ray's life with them on Friday, April 22, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Bates Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mike Dotson officiating. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Family will be present at the funeral chapel to greet other family members and friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 22. Burial will be in the Beacon Cemetery in Beacon, Iowa, following the services.
