Louise Aeschliman

January 19, 1927 - August 12, 2020

Louise Aeschliman, 93, of Norwalk and formerly Oskaloosa, Iowa, died Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at the Regency Care Center in Norwalk, Iowa. She was born January 19, 1927 in Roana, Italy. She attended school in Heerlen, Holland until 8th grade. On March 19, 1949, Louise was united in marriage to Dale Aeschliman in Kahoka, Missouri. They moved to Oskaloosa in 1954, and farmed southwest of Oskaloosa for several years, and later farmed near Rose Hill for many years. Dale passed away in August of 2004. Louise worked at the Big Smith Overall Factory in Oskaloosa as a press operator. She later cleaned houses for family and friends and was a homemaker while raising her children and caring for her family. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Oskaloosa and often volunteered at the church, helping wash and press linens or donating desserts. She enjoyed playing cards, tending to her flower and vegetable garden, baking, and taking trips to Branson, Missouri. Above all else, she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her 2 sons: Paul (& Ann) Aeschliman of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Donald (Pamela Chipp) Aeschliman of Norwalk, Iowa; 5 grandchildren: Christopher Aeschliman, Heather Aeschliman, Aaron (Deb) Aeschliman, Nicholas (Lindsey) Aeschliman, and Courtney (Wes) Sefrit; 6 great grandchildren and 2 sisters, Marie Gandin-Zotti and Ena Loog-Zotti. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale Aeschliman; 2 sons: Steven Craig in infancy and Michael Allen in 1976 and her brother, Reno Zotti. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 17, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church in Oskaloosa with the Reverend Troy Richmond officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Oskaloosa. According to the rules put in place by the Iowa Department of Public Health, proper social distancing and reasonable personal protective equipment is advised for attending a religious public event. Louise’s family requests everyone attending the service to please wear a mask. The funeral service will be live streamed at the funeral home’s YouTube Channel for those wishing to support the family from a distance. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Monday morning at the Bates Funeral Chapel with the family present to greet guests and relatives. There will be a Rosary recited at 10:15 Monday morning at the funeral chapel. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Church in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
