Joan Clark

May 17, 1950 - November 17, 2019

Joan L. Clark, 69, of Oskaloosa, died on Sunday, November 17, 2019, in rural Mahaska County. She was born May 17, 1950, in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Marion and Ruth (Bates) Crumrine. She graduated from North High School in Omaha with the class of 1968. Following high school, she received her Degree of Automation Accounting from CE School of Commerce in Omaha. Joan began working for Physicians Mutual after graduation. Joan married William (Bill) Mattingly on June 23,1969 in the Northside Christian Church, in Omaha. She was a member of Fellowship Bible Church and enjoyed making new friends at the church. Joan also enjoyed crocheting, bike rides, lunch at the Senior Center, spending time with her children, grandchildren, sister, nieces and nephews. Joan is survived by her daughter: Leslie Hill of Albia; grandchildren: Zachary Hawkins and wife Megan, Brendyn Hawkins, Jakob Hawkins, Spencer Varner, Matty Kovacevich, one great granddaughter: Everly Hawkins and a sister: Mary Robb of Moravia. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Joan was especially close with her niece: Lisa Robb and her great-niece, Kailyn Risher of Oskaloosa. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother: John Bates As was her wish Joan’s body has been cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, December 2, 2019, at 5:00 p.m. at the Fellowship Bible Church with Pastor Rodney DeRonde officiating. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Monday at 3:00 pm until service time at 5:00 pm in the Fellowship Bible Church with the family present to greet friends and relatives. Burial will be held at a later date in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, in Elkhorn, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
