Greg Mausser, 67, of Knoxville, died Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at his home in Knoxville. He was born June 3, 1950, in St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of William and Gloria Mausser. He graduated from high school in Whittier, California. Following high school, Greg served in the United Stats Air Force. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to southern California. He completed technical training in electronics repair. He took a position with RCA as a television and VCR repair man. He worked for RCA in both California and Texas. Following his career with RCA, Greg worked construction in northern California. In 1993, he moved to Iowa and went to work for Reames Foods in Pella. On July 15, 1994, he was united in marriage to Judith Cortez at Knoxville. After a few years at Reames Foods, Greg went to work at Central College in Pella. Last, he worked at Wal-Mart in Knoxville, retiring from there in February of 2013. On May 15, 2013, the love of Greg’s life, Judy, died after nearly 20 years of marriage. Greg was an avid reader, sometimes reading a book a day, he also enjoyed: fishing and watching NETFLIX. He was also very creative and enjoyed drawing and doing crafts. He was also a very talented woodworker. His son Matt was his pride and joy, he was very proud of his accomplishments and of the man that he has become. His family includes his six children, Matt (Kailin) Mausser of Waianae, Hawaii, Frank (Beth)Cortez of Columbus, Ohio, Judith (Cody) Brummet of Knoxville, Christina Cortez of Knoxville, Nick (Chelsey) Cortez of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Anthony (Abbie) Cortez of Waukee; fourteen grandchildren, Kyria, Quenten, Anthony, Myah, Avah, Dominic, Brody, Ainsley, Gia, Avery, Elias, Gwyneth, Judson, and Colson; three sisters, Beverly Gallagher of Colorado, Linda (Dan) Armstrong of Florida, and Denise Mason of California; and a brother, Wayne Hyden of Knoxville. Greg was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Judy, a son, Jeff Mausser; and a brother in law, Dan Gallagher. Graveside funeral services and burial will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at 10 a.m. in the Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Graveside Military Honors will be given by members of the Oskaloosa American Legion and V.F.W. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. As was Greg’s wish no visitation is planned.
