She attended Bethel Baptist Church in Oskaloosa, and enjoyed supporting missionary work; working in the nursery; and attending Bible study with friends. Shirley delighted in attending grandchildren’s sporting events and activities, reading, gardening, and camping. She enjoyed watching basketball on television, especially Iowa, Iowa State, and U.N.I. games.

Her family includes her husband: Donald Bailey of Oskaloosa; a daughter and her husband: Lauren and Jim McMahan of Oskaloosa; and three grandchildren: Weslee, Bradlee, and Autumn McMahan (& fiancée: Keith Reisetter).

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Charles Bailey.
